Weekly Challenge ~ SUNSET ~ or Pensive

Oh Goodness that abstract challenge was fun. We will do another this summer when we can really be outside!! To honor our change to daylight savings time, this weeks challenge is >>>>>
Sunset
OR
Pensive  Literally, thoughtful; employed in serious study or reflection; but it often implies some degree of sorrow, anxiety, depression or gloom of mind; thoughtful and sad, or sorrowful.

Rules: you can submit one using sunset or pensive, you can submit one image that uses both words for inspiration in the same image, or ONE for each word equally two images :P blah that was a little confusing.
Sunset in FULL COLOR only

And use all your editing skills on this one :) lots of contrast and lots of saturated color, textures if you know how!! All the photos above were of the same sunset. Here are few tips for sunset>>>> your horizon line should never be down the center of the picture, review the rule of thirds, but don't feel that they have to run exactly at those third lines just not CENTER. Set your ISO, then your Fstop anywhere from f3-f10 or greater, then play with your shutter speeds, to get a silhouette look like the last image I used a faster shutter speed to let in less light. And have fun in the fresh air!!!

Pensive in Black and white only!!! and must include a living thing, human or animal.

This weeks challenge ABSTRACT

Here is your assigned reading and viewing!!!
at this link you will find SUPERB examples of abstract photographic images>>>> Abstract is really about finding details and color and light and texture and using them to create an unexpected image. Please leave in the comments your favorite image from the assigned reading, mine is the black and white staircase that looks like a xylophone. In just the past few years I have started to enjoy this style of simple shapes and keenly used light. Have fun and don't tell us what it is, let us guess :) and work hard to get great exposure!!
Here are few of mine and I will shoot one this week as well and post in the group.

March Monthly Challenge ~Change~

CHANGE: An event that occurs when something passes from one state or phase to another.

I have a confession on this one I didn't go out a photograph new images for this one, I dug into my personal archives so that I could give you a great example of what I am look for in this challenge. If you live in the northern US many changes will come in the weather and what your environment looks like over the next 30 days!!!
Rules
ONE OR TWO images only. If you use two images please put them together on a side by sides storyboard image so that we can see them together, if you don't know how to create storyboard image just let me know and  I will help you.
Black and White or Color
This is a bit hypocritical but try to shoot new images :) this is about learning and growing and I promise to shoot my own new change images as well :)

My photo>>>  is taken on the day a grass fire nearly burned down our tree row. The blury grey background is the ash and soot left by the fire. So this one would be change of season, change from destruction to grow. A few Suggestion would be change of light, mood, time...change your point of view, your attitude, or your lens. This is wide open to your interpretation!!!
